Hi, I'm Keychel

I'm the baker behind Celebrations by Keychel, a Louisiana bakery that builds complete party packages: hand-piped sugar cookies, cookie pops, dipped treats, and a custom cookie cake in every one. Delivering from Lake Charles to Lafayette.

Celebrations by Keychel is owned and operated by Knead for Sweets, LLC. The bakery began as Knead for Sweets in 2020, and everything is still made by my own hands, from the first batch of dough to the last line of piping.

How it started

In 2020, I went to my nephew's birthday party and couldn't stop looking at the royal icing cookies. I asked my sister what they were called, and I decided right then that I was going to learn how to make them.

My first practice cookies were far from perfect. The icing was too thin and ran off the cookies. The lemon flavor was way too strong. My mom tried to make me feel better and told me she liked them.

I kept practicing and improving. Before long, a coworker placed what I believe was my very first order: a set of Halloween cookies. That's when Knead for Sweets officially began to grow.

From a corner of my bedroom to my first home

When I started, I didn't have a baking space or shelves full of supplies. I was living with my parents, and everything I had fit into a couple of totes in the corner of my bedroom. One held cookie cutters, another held supplies, and my stand mixer stayed in its box.

When it was time to work, I carried everything into my parents' kitchen. When I finished, it all went right back into my room. Some nights turned into almost all-nighters just to get orders finished.

As orders grew, I started attending farmers' markets. The income from Knead for Sweets helped me save toward the down payment on my first home.

The moment I knew

Building a business meant taking a risk without knowing whether it would pay off. One moment reminded me that people were noticing what I was building.

My brother was at the gym one day when he overheard two women talking about how much they loved my cookies. He got to tell them, "That's my sister." When he shared that story with me, I remember feeling so proud. Here were two people I didn’t even know, having a conversation about something I had created. They weren’t talking to me or leaving a review. They were simply sharing how much they loved my cookies.

It reminded me that what started as a small business was becoming something people knew and genuinely loved.

From Knead for Sweets to Celebrations by Keychel

For years, Knead for Sweets was the name on every order. It's where I learned, made my mistakes, and found my first customers.

Along the way, I tried other treats, and I kept coming back to the idea of party orders: one table of matching treats for a birthday, shower, or milestone. In 2027, roughly 6 years later, I'm bringing it all together under one name and focusing on complete party packages. Every package includes sugar cookies, cookie pops, and a custom cookie cake, with dipped treats to fill out the table.

"Keychel" is the name I go by, so this new name feels like me. It's the same baker and the same care, with one simple way to plan your celebration.

Thank you for being part of the story
